To be the receptacle
To be the penetrated

To hold so many and no more

To feel the slow withdrawal
A wince and a relief

To have it over and done

To witness the careful threading

Barry Seiler has published four books of poems: Frozen Falls, The Waters of Forgetting, Retaining Wall, and Black Leaf. "Dust Jacket," "Window," and "Pincushion" are part of "Flotsam," a sequence of about thirty poems. He divides his time between urban northern New Jersey and rural upstate New York.
